Dolphin Health Project
The Health Project was set up in September 2006. It is funded by the HSE and provides a space for local people to deal with their own well being through programmes such as the Women's Groups, Older People's Groups, Men's Shed, Breakfast mornings, Yoga, Outreach, and a Drop In, where advice and information on subjects such as Social Welfare and Rights & Entitlements is available.
The Health Project is based in Dolphin House Community Centre. There are lots of classes and courses available:
- Drop in Service – Advice re ESB, Social Welfare, and Medical Cards etc. Every Monday 11am-1.30pm
- Mother & Toddler Group – The mother and toddler group will recommence Wednesday 23rd September 10.30am – 11.30am in Dolphin Community Centre Hall
- Community Knitting Group – Every Wednesday at 7.00pm – 9.00pm
- Community Breakfast – 9.30am – 11.30am every Thursday - This is free of charge. Everyone welcome
- Water Aerobics – Every Friday morning in Herberton Swimming Pool – this class is €5 per week. Meet at Dolphin Community Centre at 10.30am. Class begins at 11am – 12pm.
Activities change throughout the year so please contact the community health workers directly if you would like to find out what is happening or to request a community/health activity you would like to see happening in the area.
The community development health workers are Barbara Brennan and Susan Lawlor and they act as a link between the project and the community. Please feel free to call into the Community Centre or Tel. 01-4544682 to speak to Susan or Barbara.
